2008 年回顧
2008 年快結束了, 今年我有去香港玩一趟, 和嘉琪一起去, 蠻好玩的.從八月開始, 我爸爸因為肺炎住院, 要戴鼻胃管, 用灌食吃東西, 11/5 爸爸跌倒, 是髖部轉子間骨折, 送往林口長庚醫院, 但醫生採保守作法, 不願開刀,因為擔心併發症, 開刀後可能馬上進加護病房或做氣切, 但不開刀的結果是爸爸不能走路, 只能座輪椅,媽媽, 姐姐, 弟弟和我處於內心的交戰及向各方詢問, 評估是否要開刀,我們決定問第二意見, 若結果還是一樣, 我們就接受這個事實, 後來於11/18 轉往三總骨科, 醫生說爸爸鈉及血紅素較低, 若內科有改進, 就可以開刀, 於11/19開刀, 感謝上天, 醫生採半身麻醉, 風險小一半, 手術順利, 11/29出院, 但爸爸晚上腹部痛, 並有黑便, 所以於12/4 前往台北長庚, 醫生建議做胃鏡檢查(黑便是消化完, 要是紅色的大便, 就是腸的問題), 發現鼻胃管斷一節在胃裡(不曉得何時斷, 為何斷, 醫生護士均沒看過這種案例), 真是不幸中的大幸, 沒掉到腸子, 否則更難處理(爸爸年紀大, 不適合開刀), 但爸爸以前有胃癌, 現在又有腸道潰瘍, 及胃潰瘍, 及漲氣, 一吃東西就會痛, 只可以禁食, 可憐的爸爸本來就很瘦, 不吃東西更瘦了, 老人家最怕骨折, 不能走路, 長期臥床, 內科的病一樣一樣來, 現在有吃米湯及打24小時的營養針, 但還在適應中, 也不能多吃, 只能少量多餐, 今年的冬天心中特別寒冷, 我每天去上班, 晚上去醫院, 我同事說每家都有老人, 要釋懷, 沒錯, 心要放開, 老人家的健康真是孩子的福氣, 自己的家人, 要多關心, 一旦失去親人, 後悔就來不及, 住院期間, 我們有請一位大陸看護, 一天$1700, 成本也很高, 所幸我們請的看護謝小姐很好, 今天下午, 印尼看護就會來, 希望我們遇到好的外勞, 照顧爸爸, 爸爸早日出院.

Cynthia's New Hair Style
My dad has been in & out in the hospital since Aug08 to Nov08. He came home last Sat. I change my hair style that day. Hope my family and I have a good luck from now on. When I walked in the street, many stores have been decorated to welcome the Christmas. I say many Christmas trees in the street. Christmas is coming. I am so surprised. Time flies this year. It is the end of this year. I was too busy, so that I almost forgot it. It is the Christmas season. Hope everyone is health and has a wonderful life. No matter what happen to you, no matter it is good or bad, it has been passed away. The most important thing is that we should have a thankful heart and cherish what we have now. God bless everyone~

Thank you everyone. My dad will go home this Sat.
My dad fell down on 11/5/08. I received the call from my family and took the taxi to Chang Gung memorial Hospital. When I saw the ambulance arrived the hospital, I want to cry. But I can't cry, I need to handle many things. The doctor took the x-ray and said that my dad had a fracture. Due to Taipei Chang Gung only handled internal medicine, we transfer to Ling KO hospital. Orthopedics Doctor Lee at Ling KO hospital said that my dad can't have the surgery. My dad is 76 years old. The risk is too high. My dad feels so painful. We don't know how to handle it at home. So we ask to stay at the hospital. Among the periods at the hospital, we evaluate the surgery risk and discuss with doctor. The doctor is conservative and insists that the risk is not good for dad. My sister, Jennifer, at USA calls us and prays for us everyday. She sent us many emails regarding the fracture knowledge. We went to hospital everyday and could not do the research. Thanks Jennifer's hard work, we can learn it immediately and discuss with the doctor.
The evaluation from Doctor Lee is that my dad could not have the surgery and after six weeks, he may sit on the wheelchair. He needs to stand the pain this period. He can't walk in the future. We feel so sad and prays for God. Look for the light of life. At the time, Doctor Wen suggests us transfer to Tri-Service General Hospital. We also want to get the second opinion. If the result is the same, we will accept this fact and bring dad to home. The arrangement from God is so wonderful. You can't believe that. When we have that idea, God will arrange the right people at that time. My brother meet Teacher Chang. He serviced at the Tri-Service General Hospital for many years. He helped us transfer my dad's case history to the orthopedics doctors at Tri-Service General Hospital. The doctor evaluated in advance and accepted my dad's transfer.
We transfer to Tri-Service General Hospital on 11/18/08. At that day, Doctor Lin said that my dad had many internal problems. If it can't be improved, the risk will be too high. They are very positive and try to improve my dad's internal problems such us raised the sodium and transfuses the blood . They evaluate my dads before the surgery. It is improved. The anesthetist-Doctor Zheng- also told us they will do the half-body anethesia instead of the whole-body. The risk can be lower an half. We accepted it. My dad took the surgery on 11/19/08. The pastor Lin and his wife came to the hospital and prayed for us. The surgery took for one hour. They were with us until the end of the surgery. Thank you~ Pastor Lin and your wife. During the surgery, we also updated the status to my sister at USA by phone immediately. She, her husband, and her father and mother in law pray for us at the same time. My dad stayed at the recovery room for 2 hours and sent to the room. After the surgery, we should avoid the internal problems after the surgery such us pneumonia and a bedsore; a decubitus. We need to hit the back and change the side every two hours. We employed Lady Xie to take care of my dad 24 hours. She did a good job.
The wound is clear. But my dad feel pains in his abdomen. The doctor arranged the gastroscope exam and find that the gullet has big holes on two sides. That is caused by nose-stomach tube. The doctor suggests to make a hole on the abdomen instead of the tube. We want to take the medicine first and evaluate it later.
The doctor said my dad report is better than before. My dad will go home this Sat(11/29/08). Thank you~God & everyone. Without your pray, my dad is still on the bed. He can sit the wheelchairs now. Thank you again.

Anan comes back
Anan with her husband came back last week. Ruthy, Anan, and I are good friends at CSULB. Due to Anan's father foreign labor has gone back to Vietnam, her husband needs to cook for the family. Her husband is so nice. I changed my hair style last Sat. How do you feel? Give me some feedback.

2008 HK and Macau trip
I come back from HK and Macau trip. It is so wonderful. Here is my trip:
We arrive HK around 12:00PM. You can choose two traffice ways:
1. One Airport Express Single Journey and three days of unlimited travel on the island(港島), Tsuen Wan(荃灣), Kwun Tong(觀塘), Tseung Kwan O(將軍澳), Tung Chung(東湧) and Disneyland Resort Lines(迪士尼線) for HK220. We can get refund HK50 when we return the ticket.
2. 八達通卡for bus and subway. You can to deposit HK 50 for 150 and get refund back when return the card. You need to put money when the money is gone.
Frances and I decide to pay HK220 and choose one way Airport Express and three days unlimited subway. We feel it is more convenient. We don’t need to put money again and again. We leave our luggage at the airport. Within 3 hours, it cost HK40. More than that, it cost HK55. Our co-worker finds luggage box. It is cheaper.
Frances’s Indian friend does the flight transfer at HK and can match our time. We decide to travel together. We take the bus to Tung Chung Station for HK3.5 and take the round way cable to NGONG PING for HK88. The cable is across 3 mountains. It is so spectacular. You also can visit the Po Lin Monastery and Giant Buddha, Monkey’s tale theatre, and Ngong Ping Tea House. It is the world's tallest outdoor bronze seated Buddha. You can enjoy the view and be relax there. We go back to airport around 5:00PM and take the Airport Express to Central station 中環站. We stop at Fortress Hill Station 炮台山站 and go to the City Garden Hotel. We go to Golden Bauhinia Square 金紫荊廣場 to view the harbor show at 8:00PM(Only Tuesday, Thursday, and Sat in Chinese, others in 廣東話) and then go to Lan Kwai Fong 蘭桂坊 at night. You can see many foreigners there. There are many shops and bars there.
At the 2nd day, we take the hotel breakfast and go to buy boat ticket to Macau at HK-Macau Ferry Terminal 港澳碼頭 at Sheung Wan Station 上環站. One way is HK134. Then we go to Tsim Sha Tsui 尖沙咀 at Kowloon. We go to Avenue of Stars 星光大道 and take pictures with stars at the floor. We visit the Peninsula Hoel 半島酒店. The afternoon tea is around HK275 plus 10% service charge. Considering the cost and the time, we decide to watch the show(HK32) for 47 minutes at the HK Space Museum(香港太空艙). The film is a Greece Secret. It is a round roof. We also take pictures with five Mascots 奧運吉祥物 for the 2008 Olympics : Beibei the Fish 魚(貝貝), Jingjing the Panda 大貓熊(晶晶), Huanhuan the Olympic Flame 奧運聖火(歡歡), Yingying the Tibetan Antelope 藏羚羊(迎迎), Nini the Swallow 京燕(妮妮). We take the lunch at Starbucks. I eat one vegetarian pie for HK18. Then we go to Ladies Market 女人街 at Mongkok. It is like 西門叮 at Taiwan. You can get a reasonable price there. I buy one watch HK20 and one necklace HK10 and one computer pad HK15. Frances buy lots of necklaces there. We also take one Chinese tea for HK8. We take the subway to transfer the bus 15(HK4) to the Peak 太平山頂. There are two plazas-Peak Tower and Peak Galleria here. We take the dinner and take a walk there. We leave there around 7:30 and take the cable(one way is HK22) to transfer bus 15C to subway. We are so lucky and take the only one bus without roof in HK. We go to the second floor. We are so excited, and enjoy the wind, and night scenery. It is so wonderful to view sights around buildings. Then we go to time square at 銅羅灣站Causeway Bay Station. It is different from the one in New York. Time square is a big mall in HK.
At the 3rd day, we wake up late. It rains. We check out and leave the luggage at the hotel. We take the cable car 噹噹電車 to 太古 Tai Koo for HK2. The car is not very clean. I feel the class of subway and the bus is as following: 1. Subway 2. Bus. 3. cable car 噹噹電車. Due to we don’t know where to go, we go to Kowloon Bay 九龍灣. There is a big mall 福德廣場. We take a France lunch there for HK48. We also shop SaSa there. You can buy brand sample there. It is not expensive. Then we went to H&M at Central Station 中環站. It is like Net in Taiwan. We want to SoHO 蘇活or Central to Mid-Level Escalators 中環至半山自動扶梯. However, we can’t find it. We give up and back to hotel to pick up the luggage. Due to time is short, we run with luggage in the rain to the subway, return the ticket and get refund HK50 back. We catch up the ferry on time. We are so luck. I can’t image if we can’t catch the ferry and what will happen. We take the hotel bus to hotel in Macau. We leave the luggage at room and take the bus back the harbor to take hotel bus to Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel. It takes 15 minutes to there. The hotel is so big. You can find canal and many gift shops there. Not many people takes the boats in canal. You can find the sky inside the hotel. No night at hotel.
The last day travel, it still rains. We take the taxi to 大三巴. Due to it rains, we decide to shop at hotels. We went to MGM Grand and Wynn Resort Macau. When we enter enter into the gambling place, the security guard will check our bag. We have to go through an electronic door to scan us. We don’t feel comfortable. Even though we are in Las Vegas, we don’t need to be scanned. We also watch a free show”吉祥樹” at Wynn. We order one car for HK100 (4 persons) from hotel to airport. Take the night flight back to the Taipei.
It is a wonderful trip. I like Kowloon and Giant Buddha on Lantau. The Ngoing Ping cable car is unforgettable. I like it. You can see many foreigners in Kowloon. When I take lunch at Starbucks, 2/3 customers are foreigners. We don't shop a lot this time. This is my first time to travel by myself. Thanks you Frances to enjoy this trip with me. Although we may have different ideas, we help each other. Sorry to wake you up so early, Frances~ Thanks a lot.

2.The clerks are not so professional. You will wait for a while to check in.
3.The sign of restroom is not very clear. Just look at exit, you can find the restroom.

Flowers in my house
Mom have plants the folowers for a while. However, it seldom have fruits. It has many fruits this year. I tell Mom it is a good news. It means we have a wonderful fruit this year. Thanks God~

Taipei Latern Festival
